Libyan Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril announced that Muammar Gaddafi has been killed. Details about Gaddafi’s death are still emerging but Britain's Telegraph reported a convoy carrying the ousted ruler tried to escape after being surrounded by Libyan forces in Sirte. The truck was the hit by a NATO airstrike, and fled into a drain below the road, where they were captured or killed by Libyan forces. A CNN video shows Secretary of State Hillary Clinton receiving the news on her BlackBerry. "Wow," she says, before emphasizing that it's unconfirmed. "We've had a bunch of these before." United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moonsaid "this day marks a historic transition for Libya" and he said a new U.N. mission is on the ground and ready to assist Libya.
